Being teachers, we are blessed to have the summers off to spend with our children and creating art. We've been active in the Greater Cincinnati art fair scene for about a decade and recently decided to make the jump to internet sales as well.

Inspired by nature and the colors of autumn, we create in traditional folk media, but add our own contemporary twists. From wax-finished pottery to sugar skull painted gourds, we strive to make a unique product.

We grow some of our gourd varieties and purchase some. Fresh gourds are scraped of the outer skin then hung to dry for 6 months to 3 years depending on the size. After dried, they are cleaned and then ready to be decorated. Our gourds are decorated using leather dyes, archival inks, oil pastels, and colored pencils. All gourds are sealed with a protective coating. Properly dried and sealed gourds are as durable as wood and will not rot if kept out of the elements.

Our ceramic work is all handbuilt earthenware, using real leaves. The leaves are pressed into the clay and then allowed to burn off in the kiln, leaving their unique impressions. The ceramic work is then finished with glazes or a wax coating.

Recently, I made some fusible bead crafts with my son and caught the bug. Since then, this geekcraft has become an obsession of mine. I began creating my own pop-culture inspired designs in melted, pixel-art, plastic beads.
